Elizabeth,
I am a communication sciences and disorders major at Penn State and I just wanted to comment on your site. I am current taking a Public Speaking Class, and I have chosen to write my three speeches on teaching children L2s much sooner, in kindergarten to be exact. Your site has helped me out a lot with my research & information gathering.
I wanted to leave you a comment showing my support for your site, and your dedication towards bilingualism. I also wanted to share my frustration about the dual-language program shutting down as well. That is the exact opposite action that should be taken in the fields of language.
Thank you for all of your hard work and commitment towards bilingualism and language.

I'm so frustrated to hear about districts closing the door on an effective dual language program. The reality is that dual language programs are no more expensive than English programs, and in fact they end up saving money in the long term because they save costs that might have been accrued for remediation if students fell behind in English programs. Educators and advocacy organizations have to stand up and not permit budget cuts to affect our bilingual programs.
